The 700 bed Universal College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital is being completed in three phases at Ranigaon, Bhairahawa. The hospital is being set up with the most modern & state-of-the-art facilities for medical education and health care delivery system at Nepal.
The initial phase of the hospital with 250 beds was commissioned in the year 2000. The first phase of UCMS Teaching Hospital consists of three blocks which are interconnected with each other. The First block is double-storeyed and it houses the Emergency department, Emergency wards, Physiotherapy, Radiology, Ultra Sound, Blood Bank, Pharmacy, Pathology laboratory, Microbiology laboratory, Biochemistry laboratory, Central specimen collection center, Electro cardiography, Operation theatres, Library, Medical Records section and multi-specialty out-patient department.
The second block is a three-storeyed ward block, consisting of four wards of 20 beds each in every floor. The third block consists of eight ultra modern operation theatres, labour ward, delivery room, neonatal ward, central sterile stores department, laundry, gas, manifold room and intensive care unit.he hospital has got clinical departments like The General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Dermatology & Veneriology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Dental, Emergency, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pathology Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory and Biochemistry Laboratory.
The hospital functions with state-of-the art medical equipment like Multi channel Cardiac monitors, Ventilators, Defibrillators, Electro-cardiography machines, Diagnostic 300MA X-ray machine, Ultra sound scanner, Electro surgical cautery machines, Anaesthesia machines, Infusion pumps, Nebulisers, Modern Dental chairs, Blood gas analyser, Semi-auto analyzer, Laminar flow, Fluorescent microscope and Physiotherapy equipment. An Intensive care unit with modern facilities has also been established. 24 hrs. ambulance services is available.
The clinical teaching of medical students is being conducted in the UCMS Teaching Hospital. Ambulance service is available round the clock in this hospital. Library facilities are also available for the students in the UCMS Teaching Hospital. The second phase of UCMS Teaching Hospital which provides additional 250 beds have been completed.
